Meet the 2017 batch of DISM students and their very first CtF!

CMT got a chance to meet our DISM freshies during their Freshmen Orientation Program. Chairman Mr Samson Yeow addressed the students on important matters with regards to their study here and shared some secrets to success in DISM.

The seniors also took to the stage and introduced our student chapter and various student opportunities, then showed the freshmen a few neat tricks.

After which the freshmen were plunged into the deep end of the pool by participating in their very first mini-capture the flag (CtF) competition! To make the competition more interesting, medals were promised to the top scorers!

Singapore strengthens cyber defence with new organisation: straitstimes.com

Singapore is setting up a new Defence Cyber Organisation (DCO) to bolster its defences against the growing threat of online attacks, as it moves to boost the round- the-clock protection of its military networks.

It will also build a force of cyber defenders - tapping national servicemen, both full-time and operationally ready men - who will lead the charge in this new battlefront.

Wow!!! We are glad that Singapore is setting up a new organisation to tackle cyber security threats. More "cyberdefenders" will be trained and deployed.

Our DISM tagged line (since 2013): Cyber Defenders of Tomorrow... is entirely inline with the national initiative.

Keep up the good work, we train our students with the aim to keep Singapore's cyber security space safe.... Cyberdefenders-to-be.

DISM Course Counselling @ T1A – Concourse

Do you have a burning question about Diploma in Infocomm Security Management (DISM) S54, poly education, further education or career choices open to you after O levels?

Visit us @ SP T1A Concourse and talk to our friendly lecturers and student counsellors who will be most delighted to advise you.

What are the questions you should be asking:

- Scholarships available to course students (Examples: CSIT Diploma Scholarship, DSO Diploma Scholarship, Infocomm Polytechnic Scholarship, Singapore Polytechnic Scholarship and Singtel Cyber Security Cadet Programme).
- Scholars in the course (NS: Not poly/school level but course level), such as the iPoly Scholarships  and National Infocomm Scholarships.
- Availability of learning facilities (NS: SP is the FIRST institute of higher learning to setup Cyber Wargame Centre)
- Continuing Education and Training (NS: SP is the FIRST institute of higher learning to setup Cyber Security Academy)
- Last aggregate score of the course (NS: Lower last aggregate score means better students in the cohort)
- Qualification and experience of lecturers (NS: IT security-related certifications that they hold)
- Advanced standing with universities (NS: Not school level but course level. For example, the NUS-Prep programme.)
- Cohort success rate (NS: Complete the course within the stipulated 3 year duration).
- Progression rate to universities (NS: How many students go to universities)
- IT security-related professional certifications for students (NS: Should be IT security-related and not other general networking certifications)

If you are a high-achiever, consider a course with a lower last aggregate score. In year 2015, DISM has a last aggregate score of 12. With a lower last aggregate point, the learning experience will be more stimulating and exciting because you know the course will offer you the best potential, scope and knowledge. It also stretches you and your talent which eventually will offer you many open doors to move on to the next milestone.

So don't hesitate, choose Diploma in Infocomm Security Management (DISM) S54 as your FIRST CHOICE now.

If you have further questions, you can talk to our friendly lecturers and student counsellors during the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) @ SP T1A Concourse.
